There's this saying that we should always teach people how to fish instead of giving them the fish. But the teaching process itself can be a hair pulling experience too and sometimes, it drives me crazy and I thought to myself, should I just catch one more fish and give it out instead...

Its like I have to really spell out everything from A-Z. Ok, granted that the newbie may be blur but then a bit of initiative also dun have de mah? Cannot trial and error meh?

You teach the newbie to secure the hook to the fishing line and he asks you questions like what hook to use, how to secure, what knot to use.
Next, you tell him to place a bait and he asks you what bait to use, what should the size of the bait be, how to secure it to the hook. Even have to show him how to hold the knife to cut the bait into hookable size =x
Then finally, you tell him to cast the line and he asks you, how should he cast the line, how far should he cast out, how long should he wait for the fish and when he should start reeling in the catch once it bites, etc etc...

See what I mean, might as well I catch right? Very pek chek lor...
Being the Mr Nice Guy that I am, I cannot bring myself to show signs of impatience or raise my voice but really am kinda boiling inside...

Sometimes I wish I can be as evil as I wish to be ";,,,;"

Some facts and figures regarding the recent so call pay revision for (TOP) civil servants:

FACT 1: Singapore President's new pay revision from current S$2,551700 to S$3,187 100
FACT 2: Singapore Prime Minister's new pay revision from current S$2,464000 to S$3,091 200
FACT 3: Singapore Senior Minister's new pay revision from current S$2,680600 to S$3,091 200
FACT 4: Singapore Minister Mentor's new pay revision from current S$2,656600 to S$3,043 300

Well, for just a single Prime Minister pay at US$2million (approximateS$3.1million), who can you get to run a country like SINGAPORE....?

We can get US President Mr George Bush + UK's Prime Minister Mr Tony Blair + Japan's PM Abe Shinzo + Australia Prime Minister Mr John Howard + Hong Kong's Chief Executive Mr Donald Tsang. Then we can throw in Leaders from Asean nations like, Malaysia, Russia and also Thailand and we will still have a savings of US$163,000.

How come nobody mention this in the parliamentary debate on new pay package?

Below is a glance at the pay package of the other world leaders:

USA President's pay : US$ 400,000
Britian Prime Minister's pay : US$ 360,000
Japan Prime Minister's pay : US$ 300,000
Australia Prime Minister's pay : US$ 200,000
Hong Kong Chief Executive's pay : US$ 420,000
Malaysia Prime Minister's pay : US$ 65,000
Russia Prime Minister's pay : US$ 60,000
Thailand Prime Minister's pay : US$ 32,000
Total : US$1,837,000
==================================
Savings : US$163,000

CONGRATULATIONS:
SINGAPORE SCORED ANOTHER 1ST AWARD : WE ARE A LEADER IN PAYING TOP

The angry girlfriend has been appeased for now. Still cannot recon the figures but heng ar, auditor say can put as reconciling item, although they must be cleared by the time he comes back to audit for the current FY in Aug, which I'm hoping against hope that I will not be around by then...

My brain is quite dead these few days, could be a result of doing too much reconciliation.
Sigh, I am stuck with my recon and all I can do is stare at the figure while the figure stares back at me.
Doing reconciliation is much like pacifying an angry girlfriend, you have to slowly find out the cause of the problem: it could be something that you have done wrong, which you did not realise until its too late, or it could be something that you should have done but have forgotten to do. And as usual, the angry girlfriend will not give you hints, expecting you to reflect and come up with something to pacify her.
Difference between recon and angry girlfriend is, the angry girlfriend will eventually give in but recon will not, it will stubbornly remain a pain in the ass, until you somehow resolve it...

Paisei paisei, haven been updating recently, kinda busy lah...
With work, cuz got another audit to clear by this week and presentation slides to prepare, though I'll not be doing the presentation...
With volunteering cuz now chairperson liaoz, cannot like last time, every week plan program then go have fun can le, now must attend meetings and take care of everyone, not stressful lah, but its taking more time and there's more responsibilities, and there's a slight problem of me not having so much free time during weekends in future... heheh... but anyways... more on that when the time comes to tell you guys...

Erm, some of the TCSCBG met up at Abel's place for a gathering last Friday. Supposed to be a drinking session lor, brought booze over but ended up playing 大老二 and drinking fruit juice =x
After some of the others left, me and the dudes took a long walk from bukit ho swee to zouk to muhammad sultan to clarke quay to boat quay, no thanks to Abel, make me walk like 45 minutes, then end up eating bak chor mee at boat quay and had to take mid night cab back to hougang (censored vulgarity at this point due to my 10-posts-promise)

Oh, and I'll be off to Taiwan for 5 days next week, will be gonez from 26 Apr to 1 May, dunno the itinery yet cuz Rach and company will be doing the planning and logistics... hahaha, for once I'm not the organiser!!!

Knee is still feeling kinda sore after 2 weeks... looks like I better go for another checkup soon...

Finally, its the end of another work week, nothing really interesting happened... More grumbling from colleagues who are feeling increasingly frustrated and want to leave Ah Geok's evil clutches but tis not news anymore, those who are staying behind are those who either can't find a job yet or still serving out their bonds or aunties who can't go anyway else at their age or those who are suay enuf to just join... In short, no one is happy... How sad is that?

And oh, for those of you who think that I'm getting richer due to the so-called pay increment civil service wide, lemme tell you, its just a one time lump sum payment equivalent to another round of bonus but there's a catch, we cannot resign within 3 mths of the payout date which is in May, else they will recover the money from us... Siaoz, kanna bond till July just because of another few hundred dollars... So bo bian hor... those waiting for a treat needs to wait longer... hahah...

Gonna have a drinking session with some of the dudes from TCSCBG, long time since my last five-ten session... After a long boring week, its time to unwind and hopefully, I still have it in me to knock the dudes out without puking... muahahahah....

p.s. See lah Estee, I can't blog properly without the use of vulgarities, dun have the 灵感 already, but as promised this is the first out of ten entries that is gonna be vulgarity-free...

Those of you who had watched Jack Neo's Follow Law movie will remember Fann Wong's on screen mother, an adorable lao zha bo who is quite IT savvy. In the movie, after attending an IT course, she was able to start her own blog called laozhabo.blogspot.com...
I thought its just a comical line in the movie to tickle our farnie bone... But she really got this blog wor!

If you think this is a bogus site... check out her everyday pix and her youtube vidz... seems quite real to me... Anyways check it out for a few laughs...

p.s. Thnx Charles for passing me this link

I see my counter has been jumping at a slow but steady rate so thanks to those who have been tuning in regularly and paisei for not updating as regularly as I would want to...Nothing to blog about these few days lei...
Not that I dun want to entertain you all but the brain not really working and hor nothing much happened these few days, life has been a work-home-tv-sleep routine ever since I was grounded with my ligament-cartilage injury, 4 days has passed since my 7-day-ban-from-sports-and-walking-around-too-much by the doc but I'm still feeling a bit of dull pain in my left knee... super sianz...

So anyway, went for a movie called 'Stomp the Yard' on Friday and seriously its not too bad... the dance moves are really cool, kinda a mixture between hip hop, street and steps... Wanna go learn hip hop de but no one wanna go with me leh... super sianz...
And also, its getting ridiculously hard nowadays to get cabs after midnight... Where the hell are all the cabs, some even has the cheek to say they only travel along certain routes... Can like dat one meh? Nabei... super sianz

Really very gian to go get my xiao hei but some of my frens advised against Korean made cars lei... sigh... super sianz

Some bad news though, heard that there's been 4 more resignations today and xiao di is one of the 4... sigh... one less fren and lunch kaki and more shit work to be divided among the remaining... super sianz...
But first I have to cover Ah Poh for the next 3 weeks and do the thing that I hate the most among all my shit clearing jobs... Kan sianz =(

Oh anyways, as for the captain ball tournament, ROvers managed to beat every single team that we came across, dats quite a record, so good work people... A pity we din managed to clinch our 4th consecutive overall championship this year due to below-expectation in our earlier events but hey, there's always a next time... Super sianz that I couldn't join in the action on the ground but its kinda cool to be the goal catcher too lah...

Hmmm... 4 more days to Sunday... hiack hiack hiack...
