Hahaha, was thinking of how to start this entry but couldn't find the correct intro... having mind block, so anyways...
Had a farewell lunch for Huiling today, our little cute temp staff who will be starting her uni soon, so the gang had our usual farewell food, buffet dim sum at
River City Restaurant at Excelsior Hotel, located next to Funan IT Mall. The food is not bad and the price is quite reasonable. You guys should try it sometimes.
From the 2 pix below, shouldn't be difficult to guess who Huiling is bah?
Had a dinner date with my colleagues after dinner at
Brewerkz, another cool place to hang out near Riverside point... They serve good American food a variety of in-house beer. Though I'm not a beer person but some of the flavours were ok though. They even have a color chart with descriptions, in case you cannot decide
So anyways, as usual lah, the 格格 forever cannot leave office on time one, so Betsy and I had to self entertain ourselves till Their Highnesses arrive. The little imp suggested we take 喜怒哀乐 pix... And so here's the results:
小鬼's version, seriously, they all look the same to me... cannot make it
Mine's definitely beats hers hands down:
Well while waiting, there were these 3 ang mohs that were looking for seats. Actually I made reservations for 8 but in the end the confirmed attendance was only 5, so I thought why not be nice and offered them one of our tables (the waitress actually gave us 2 small tables)... It certainly pays to be kind cuz out of gratitude, they bought us a round of shots... It doesn't cost much but the gesture was nice and it kinda made our evening =)
After waiting like 2 hours, Their Highnesses finally arrived, and so did the food (lucky I placed the order w/o them)
Mouth watering eh?But too bad everyone was kinda tired after a week's work so its home sweet home after dinner...

Usually, I'm pretty nice to old folks, giving up seats, holding the lifts for them, letting them board/ alight trains/ buses but there is this particular group of old folks that simply pisses me off big time.
I was in the MRT the other day which was packed like sardines and the train came to a stop at one of the stations. Some mean looking old man just bulldozed and bashed his way to the exit, brushing me off like a stray branch that happened to be in the way. That's not all, the old fart actually had the fucking cheek to turn around and tiaoed me.
Nabei!!! How fucking hard is it to say 'excuse me'? Ok, he may not know English but can at least say 借过 or its Hokkien or other dialect equivalent right? Unless of course he's a mute, then I rest my case, but I seriously do not think he's mute.
Well, we were all taught from young to respect our elders but respect is only given where respect is due, it should be earned and not demanded. So, to people like the above I'll say:

Fans all over the world were shocked by the passing of one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.
Thought its just a normal marketing gimmick until
Yahoo news confirmed the death of Chris Benoit aka The Rabid Wolverine, his wife and his 7 year old son in their home.
For those who grew up watching wrestling will remember Chris as a resilient no nonsense kinda guy in and outside the ring. Some of the other wrestlers may adopt ridiculous persona or subject themselves in silly story plots but this guy simply goes into the ring and gave what the fans expect of him, pure adrenaline rushing entertainment.
The former World Champion will be missed...

On an entirely different note, watched the DVD version of 300 over the weekend, by far, the coolest show I've caught so far... Its about 300 Spartans who fought valiantly against an entire Persian army in an effort to preserve the pride and freedom of their race, and of course 299 of them perished except 1, who lived to tell the tale...
A must see if you have not seen it already =)

Its indeed an honour to have breakfast with one of the most renowned figures of Singapore, who had made much contributions over the years. Dr Lee has many stories to tell and there's much to be learnt from these stories of his. Well, for those of you who want to know more about this great man, you can drop by
his blog.
It was toturous to have to wake up so early on a Saturday morning though, especially... heheh...
Went Aloha Loyang in the evening for the little one's 21st bdae celebration... hahah the whole affair seem more like wedding reception than a bdae party wor, got guestbook to sign somemore...hahah... (eh, in case you are reading this, not I say one hor... heheh)
Anyway, we were hell bent on getting her drunk, so we played all kinda finger guessing games and even conspired in some games...Some half a bottle of vodka later, she's still on her feet, really a 酒鬼...

New enforcer on the road now comes camouflaged in the form of Honda Blackbirds. The only tell tale sign is the 'TP' license plate and maybe their jeans and dark blue jackets.
Be warned if you are proned to the thrill of speeding, like me =(

Ah Geok's minions sent out this mail:
==========================
Hi *
insert name of branch*,
As
my dept widens its scope of duties and takes on more responsibilities, Management would like to ensure that our staff have the best working environment and that our staff's needs are well taken care of.
As this concerns the well-being of every staff in
my dept, we would like to ensure all the voices in
my dept are heard. There will be a piece of paper passed to you in a while. Please return back when you're done.
So feel free to pop down your ideas by next Monday.
Thank you.
Ah Geok=========================
As expected, none of us really bothered because time and again, it has been proven that what we said will not be entertained.
If she really has our interests at heart, there will not be this stupid 龙虎榜 telling the whole world who has the highest MC rate from each branch and who actually tops the dept in terms of having taken the most number of medical leave.
If she really has our interests at heart, she would not have kept the circular which tells us that we can leave early on a certain Friday cuz its a civil service wide 'Family Day'.
If she really has our interests at heart, she would not have events such as sharing sessions at the end of Wednesdays when we can officially knock off early.
If she really has the interest of us at heart, she would not expect her staff to be on standby day and night, and expects us (ok not me but some of the others) to reply emails and submit reports during weekends
If she really has our interests at heart, 'the piece of paper' that has been passed to us will not have our names written on them, since its meant to be feedback
p.s. Parts of the email had been amended (words in green)

Meetings are usually for mgt to establish their existence, its the platform for them to profile, to showcase to everyone all these wonderful ideas on how to make the world a better place. Everyone will try to state their case in an attempt to impress and its also usually a platform to generate more work for those at the lower end of the foodchain.
Unfortunately Lim Peh is at that lower end -_-
And it never fails to amaze me that during meeting, the same idea will be heard differently, coming from people residing at different ends of that chain.
If the idea comes from someone at the lower end of the foodchain, it becomes a barely audible buzz much like that of an annoying stray mosquito. A few minutes and a few rounds of beating the bush later, sometimes even a few rounds of similiar meetings later, someone from the higher end of the foodchain suddenly repeats the idea and ooooo, it suddenly becomes deafeningly clear to everyone that the world is gonna be saved by the genius.
Generally frustrated that I'm asked to sit in such long boring meetings (these ppl actually have the stamina to last 4 hrs!) cuz I'm the 'most seasoned'. Lim Peh has learnt eons ago that when you are at the lower end, always let those at the higher end do the talking and let them get the credit, becuz firstly, watever ideas you have will eventually become theirs (refer to above if you have missed that part) and secondly, you will always end up doing the shit work and then the credit will still go to them, and therefore, the more you try to suggest, the more you have to do while getting little, if any at all, your due recognition...
So well anyways, after wasting my time attending such meaningless meetings, I still have to clear my backlog in addition to the shit work that I got. And that's not all, it seems that being 大师兄 gives people the false impression that I'm Mr Know-It-All.
Half the time, these people will ask me stuff that is beyond my job scope and still, being the nice guy that I am (pls do not try to barf, those who received my grace will know), I still try to help. I mean I'm generally ok if I'm available, but you know, after a while, it simply irritates the hell out of me, especially if I'm already up to my neck with my own stuff. I mean why can't these people try to find the answers for a change???
Its not that I dun wanna help but I mean, sometimes these things just get to you after a while, know wat I mean?

Went AHA with some colleagues on Wed. Dunno exactly what it stands for but its part of the efforts by our Staff Welfare Committee which aims at promoting healthy lifestyles in office. (yeah after working us to death... pffttt)
Since I dun usually join office activities, tot I'll just join this one. And so, the whole gang took a short walk over to Fort Canning and we had a game of Captain's Ball. We din actually play by the rules but everyone had fun...
After the game, we went over to Cold Storage to get some drinks and went back to office. This is when the gang decided to outshine
Fiona Xie and her Fruit Tree adverts, and so, we had a crazy time posing:
Group pose:Little Miss Pinky with her pink peachy drink and pink mug:
Same model with 2 extras in the background:
Qian, with her healthy image:
Me, this is supposed to be the sporty image:Joseph, absolutely delighted to be a spokesperson for fruit juices:
Supposed to join the gang for dinner at Thai Express after the that but I needed to pass something to Rach, so I ended up having dinner at this Chinese restaurant in Central Mall instead:
Since I was still having sore throat, ordered some congee while Rach orderd some dry mee which tasted quite ok, but I thought my congee was kinda bland though, din take pix cuz they were well, quite normal. The beef and the tofu was nice though:
My 掬花茶tasted quite bland too but the little flowers make it look more like the real thing, the white stuff below is supposed to be some soya drink, again minus the sugar syrupWe concluded that this is a restaurant for the health conscious (most of the dishes were either in the less salt, less sugar or less oil category) and those who's having sore throat cuz the first time that Miss R came to this restaurant is when she was having sore throat too...
p.s. To Rach...Thanks for walking me to Citylink after dinner to meet the rest and for that little note (",) and erm... paisei for that few awkward moments... hahaha =p

Saturday
Almost couldn't wake up in time for my comm meeting at RO due to late nite out on Friday. Reached home like 3am and I need to reach Tampines at 9.30am. Luckily I was planning to get breakfast for the rest so guess I redeemed myself.
Spent the rest of Saturday in RO, using my weekly volunteering and I thought I could go home and nua a bit before I join Joan n gang at Double O later on in the night. But then Betsy called and said that KTV with Huaying (whom I haven met in a while) is onz and poof, there goes the rest time.
Managed to get home for a quick shower, grabbed a bite and then off to M. Square to fulfil my promise. A few songs and a bourbon later, off to meet Tigress before I began the journey to M. Sultan.
Actually was supposed to go Double O last week but din managed to cuz of the MOS outing last Friday night. So as shagged out as I was, I cannot afford to fly plane again or else I will be nagged for a long time to come. And so, a round of introduction to new frens and another bourbon later, its off to another night of dance and booze. Still prefer jazz/ retro to the dunno simi music at MOS, plus the drinks are dirt cheap, one shot for a mere $3! A jug of vodka red bull for $14 and the concentration of alcohol is quite decent as well.
1 jug of vodka redbull and 4 tequila pops later, I decided that it is quite enuf if I wanna avoid a headache the next day. Not that I was drunk but lack of sleep and booze for 2 straight nites is a sure way of wasting my Sunday nursing a splitting headache.
Sunday
True enuf, headache and the bloody hot sun is not helping.
