Had a class gathering with my Sec Sch buddies yesterday. 13 years had passed since we graduated from our O levels but everyone is still their same old crappy self. Hahaha, to think that we all live in the Serangoon-Hougang-Sengkang area but it actually took us like 2 years to meet up... We should really make an effor to meet up more often...
As usual, topics during class gathering revolve around girlfriends/ boyfriends/ marriage/ career and cars... Most of us are doing quite ok in our respective fields... We actually have a scientist, an SIA pilot, an IT consultant, a manager and a manager-to-be in our ranks.
Speaking of work, I still have like 2 more weeks before I start. Feeling kinda excited about the challenges that lie ahead but then Rainbow warned me about the office politics in the place. I suppose office politics exists everywhere, even in a sheltered environment such as the civil service.
Recently heard from one of my friends that they have a Golden Horse Best Actress nominee in her company. Somebody who does nothing except talking and then acts as if she is all knowing and all important. She will do the bare minimum, maybe say just a little planning in the initial stage, then 'handover' to her co workers and the rest of the committee/ project team to work out the details, and then at the eleventh hour, ask how things are going and if there's anything she needs to do (which is redundant lah, whatever that needs to be done will already be done by then) and then during the big day itself, put on her best acting skills and look all so important and knowledgeable to impress the bosses.
I must say, I really 佩服 such people... yesh, granted that they are downright despicable and shameless but they have the resourcefulness and the brains to be working out such schemes. These people sure will be an asset to the organisation that they work in becuz such people sure very loyal and will not quit one, otherwise, why would they try so hard to outsmart their peers? They are also ususally the apples in their bosses' eyes as they are usually quite good bootlickers too as they have to learn how to be politically correct.
I hope I dun have such people in my new workplace though... It will be a waste of energy trying to deal with such scum.

The gang decided to bet on some 4D numbers from Val's wedding, such as the permutations on the wedding date, the apartment number as seen through the video presentation, but we came up short, almost strike 2 consolation prize though... just 跳字, should have bought iBet but then the prize money wun b that great. Hahahah mayb better luck next time...
On a totally unrelated topic, came across this youtube clip... and I almost fell off my chair laughing... Its supposed to be a love scene but the the actor and actress are actually making out according to the rythm of the backgroud music... WTF??? And if you look closely, they are actually singing along at some points of their making out... LOL!!!
And in typical Indian movie fashion, they spent like 80% of the time running around the house and the guy gets it off in like the final 20 odd seconds, just as the song finishes....hahahah... Its just plain hilarious to me
p.s. Sorry guys, there's no 'hot' action in this clip, if that's wat you are expecting... heheh... This is not a porn site ok? muuhahahah

Its been a while since I blog on something controversial.
Some weeks ago, some of volunteering friends were chatting in a car enroute dinner and suddenly the topic hits circumcision. Well everyone knows what male circumcision is all about. Erm, for those who dun, I lazy to explain, you can read all about it here. We moved on from male cicumcision to female circumcision but no one really knows much about this. The gals (those in the car) were also as baffled as I was, so we changed the topic. It was then forgotten until I came across it again in today's Straits Times. (Page 39 of 'World': Egyptians Debate On Female Circumcision).
For guys, circumcision involves removal of part or all of the foreskin which could be for better hygiene, although I dun really think it helps if the dude has poor hygiene to begin with. And of course, its supposed to reduce the possibility of AIDS and other STDs but hey, that's what condoms are designed for, or better yet, dun go fucking around, so yeah I dun really think these reasons justify putting our little brothers under the knife. Well unless the dude happens to be a Jew or a Malay or if he belongs to some African tribes where getting cut symbolises a passage into manhood. Some says circumcision dulls the senses when it comes to sex, and so it makes me wonder what's the point of achieving 'manhood' if it makes it difficult for a man to do what a man gotta do???
For the gals, it involves removal of the clitoris, a part of the female genitals mostly associated with sexual stimulation and arousal. Unlike the guys, there isn't any strict religious requirement for gals to get cut (from what I gathered from the newsapaper report). The reason they do it is to maintain the gal's chastity and honour. What the fuck (no pun intended) is that supposed to mean? Unless the doctor is a female, but according to the report, even a barber (who I think is mostly male, a female would be called hairdresser no?) or anyone who can and willing to do it can perform circumcision on the poor gal. So what chastity and honour are we talking about if any Tom, Dick and Harry can violate the gal's privacy on the pretense of preserving her chastity and honour? Its damn ironic... Seriously, dulling sexual senses does not help if the gal is a nympho rite? Its even less effective on guys cuz well we are naturally born horny anyway...
I hope the Egyptian gahmen puts its foot down this time and really bans the practice. I dunno what you guys think but I think mandatory body mutilation of any kind is just not right. I mean people can choose to go for tattoos or body piercings or get circumcised if they are willing to, but its just wrong to have it imposed on them just because of some stupid old wives' tale or beliefs or even religion...

So ok, this is it. Today marks the final day of my stay here in Ah Geok's Dept. Its farnie how eveyone wants to get out while they are there but when it comes the D-Day, there is always a tinge of sadness. I suppose no matter what, there will always be some feelings for the place and the people that I have spent the past 2 years plus of my life with.
Little Imp has got to irritate me one last time with this on my farewell cardThe card itself is kinda cute too, although there's an over emphasis on 'Bye' Thank you all for the well wishes, just found out that I have 2 'daughters', a few 'nieces' and some 'disciples' during my short stay here Erm, another car model to add to my collection Not sure if this is part of the farewell gift or another bdae pressie, rather hip hop, another devious idea by the Imp... tsk tsk.. I'm sure gonna miss everyone... but we'll still get to hang out together, its not so bad lah...
Oh well, 3 weeks leave and now I have to think of how to occupy myself. Feel like a retiree all of a sudden... hahah... People asked why dun I go for a trip... Well, first of all, its kinda difficult to jio people now lah and then, I just got the COE and of course there's wedding dinners every month all the way till Dec (inclusive of one that's gonna be held in Malacca), so well, money is a concern here... hahah

Had a bloody irritable day trying to develope some pix at one of those DIY photo kiosks. All I ever wanted was to develope 4x wallet photos for a customised farewell pressie for 4x colleagues in the office but it took me like one bloody day to accomplish that.
First of all, I saved the pix into my thumbdrive and brough it to the kiosk at Hougang Mall, but the 2 kiosks there refused to read my card. I can still keep my cool for wasted trip number one cuz well, I partitioned my thumbdrive so it could be possible that the machines were trying to read that part which was password protected. So I ran the errands that I set out to do and decided to try again in the afternoon on my way to the gym, after transferring the pix to my bro's thumbdrive and to my handphone's multimedia card, just in case.
And as luck will have it, this time round, the machines can detect the thumbdrives but then, the file size is too big to be read! WTF??? I was now really getting pek cek cuz I need the pix tmr lor... wasted trip number 2 and my blood is almost boiling.
And so, as I had a dinner appointment in Tampines, I decided to give it one more shot. So, the one at Century Square can detect my drives and obviously has enough RAM or whatever it is that finds the file size readable, but then there is a minimum requirement of 10 prints, else they will charge additional $5! Tamade! Usually its between $2 to $2.50 for 4 prints lor... Wasted trip number 3 and blood pressure almost at an all time high...
Final stop, Tampines Mall... A couple in front was flirting and browsing through their entrire fucking thumbdrive, discussing which one they should choose. And mind you, they have like 460 over pix ok? I was seriously out of patience, after waiting for like 15min and they showed no sign of finishing. So I asked the guy if they are quite done yet and he had the cheeks to sheepishly tell me they are still selecting... grrrrrrr.... Being the civil person that I am, I decided not to make a scene but told them to hurry the fuck up cuz I dun have all day.
They should seriously consider charging morons who hog up the kiosk... maybe like those neoprints machines which set a time limit for ppl to decorate their prints. If you take longer than that, then you would have wasted your $10 on some lousy printouts... In this case, maybe the machines will then automatically print out all the 460 over pix cuz they failed to adhere to the time limit.. That should teach them... muuuhahhahaha
Really, I dun understand why ppl can't bloody choose their pix at home and just print them out, instead of wasting everybody's time by discussing and debating which ones to print...
So anyways, I finally managed to have my turn and I took less than 5 min to print mine...
p.s. Dun ever try to print your pix at the kiosk in Hougang Mall's basement.

Its amazing how some memories can pop into your mind all of a sudden and brings you back through time and space. Its as if you are there, watching yourself relive the past here in the present but in another dimension. And most often than not, its the sad ones that leave a longer after taste than the happy ones. I suppose that is true for most things, like you do not really feel much sweetness in your mouth after you swallowed the last of your sweet or chocolate but one bite into a chilli or a bittergourd and its foul taste will linger much longer on your taste buds.
Its also amazing how something totally insignificant or unrelated can trigger some of these memories. Good thing is, as of now, I dun really have much sad memories to dwell on...

Hahaha, my msn nick caused a little stir over the past few days. It went something like this:
我和玉华分手了
一起走到爱的十字路口,却始终看不到尽头
回忆像秋叶飘落,要我怎么捡
I have received many msn messages asking if I had broken off with gf. Its actually my parting words for Ah Geok lah. Its finally time to say goodbye, after spending 2 years and 4 months in her department.
Actually the real reason I leave is due to career advancement. Time and again I have complained about the working environment and the way things are being run here in my blog entries, but these are things that can be endured cuz I have a really great bunch of working colleagues which I can proudly called friends, and not just working partners. But I have reached the point where I feel stagnant and think its time to move on.
Although I have been taken noticed of by Ah Geok recently and given the opportunity to be exposed to new things, it all came abit too late. There still isn't a clear indication of any progression and no gaurantee that I will get what I want. To give Ah Geok credit though, despite her tyranny and her apparently low EQ, she is actually one very intelligent woman who can see things and has a better insight that most of us dun. I still think its better to leave while she still has a good impression of me rather than when I have fallen from grace. There were many who had risen and fallen in a really short span of time and really, it can be very damaging to the soul.
The stuff that I can't bear to leave behind are actually the friendships and the fond memories I have of this place (yes, there were actually fond memories too, here in the land ruled by the Evil Queen).
Hahaha, so now you guys know the story behind my msn nick =)

Imagine you have been an ordinary foot soldier all your life. You know the mechanics of warfare and had been able to survive all this while. Suddenly one day, you are asked to assume the role of a general, leading a legion of men to war. The mechanics are still the same, but now, instead of being a follower, you are expected to be the leader. Will you accept this role and see it as a stepping stone to achieving greater heights or be apprehensive of the uncertainty, responsibility and unfamiliarty of this new role and decide to remain status quo?

Its time again for the annual Individual Perverted Physical Test aka IPPT. Its a dreaded test for most guys after they passed the Civillian Conversion Course and got back their ICs from the army camp.
Hahah, even though I exercise regularly, I simply detest jogging. Its a different thing while I was still an NSF, cuz whether I liked it or not, its almost a daily thingy so I was actually quite a good runner back in those days. Nowadays, I just rely on whatever stamina built up during my gym and badminton sessions to pass the dreaded 2.4km run.
Din manage to get silver this time round though, guess age is catching up liao... 25 sec faster and I would have gotten 200 bucks instead of 100. Of course I can choose to retake next week but since I have to go for another round during my incamp training in Nov for the next window, most probably I'll settle for the 100 bucks for now.
On a seperate note, was damn sianz that I din manage to get the COE bidding this time round, nabei, its at an all time high of almost 18k can? But guess I cannot kau bei too much cuz I'm also one of those who go book cars at last month's 8k COE. Even though its gonna be an OPC but doesn't really matter lah, since I'm working in the city, doesn't make sense to fork out extra money for all the ERP and season parking, not to forget higher road tax too.
Anyways, gotta patiently wait for the next bid liaoz =(
Here's a preview of my to-be new ride (the actual one comes in sports version so it's gonna look slightly better)
