Latest hot topic in town: Ed is on Gillian from down under!!!
For those of you Korean fans who may have forgotten your Hong Kong celebrities, the characters in question are Edison Chen and Gillian Chung one half of reigning Canto pop sensation, Twins. Apparently, pictures (warning, pix 1 and pix 2 are uncensored) of their sexual escapades found their way onto the internet and it's causing quite a stir. Of course, it could be a hoax but I think there should be video clips coming soon to a PC near you.
Actually hor, celebrities or not, they have as much freedom to sleep with whoever they want... But then, why so stupid and get it recorded leh? They dun read the news one meh??? From Pamela Anderson to Paris Hilton to the shamed Taiwanese and M'sian politicians, dun people learn that some things are better being kept in the room behind closed doors?
I dun quite give a damn about Edison but what is to become of Twins??? I'd be damned if the duo split cuz of this...

Went in search of new year clothes over the weekend but realised that there's not much choice leh... Just take a look at the number of shops selling ladies clothes vs the number of shop selling guys clothes and you'll see what I mean...
And having the figure that I have now doesn't make it any easier... I'm usually a 'M' guy but there are some shirts that I can't quite fit, around the arms (I'm not trying to be boastful hor...), but if I take one size bigger, then it will appear a tad too long, since me is not tall, so 'L's are usually no-no... sigh... But in the end, heng ar... still managed to get something...
And so, I realised it's time to amend my workout schedule, gotta cut down on weight lifting and do more cardio instead, meaning, I have to jog more liaoz lor ... gotta start burning more fats since tummy is growing... but jogging is really siong and boring leh... just 5km and I almost died... Siaoz liaoz...

Sigh... seriously I do not understand why some people need to rush down escalators, chiong into trains as the doors are closing or fight their way out of trains when alighting. Will cutting that few seconds really help??? If you are late for work, means you are late for work lor, serves you right for not waking up early mah...
KNN... Limpeh kana 血光之灾 as a result of such idiots. This lady was like shoving and pushing her way to the door before the MRT stops at Cityhall MRT. So the train jerked and she lost her balance. While trying to grab a hold to steady herself, she happened to scratch me instead... Din even apologise lor... CCB, although not excruiatingly painful but still pain can? If she had missed and clawed my face instead, I would have helped her out of the train cabin by booting her ass...
Speaking of which, not everyone who was a victim can remain as calm and chee-by-lised (pun intended) as I was. Just now during lunch (and you know how crazy the lunch crowd can be in Raffles Place), I was on my way to the fruit stall in The Arcade when suddenly a woman in front of me stopped in her tracks and screamed 'Aiya!!! KNNBCCB!!!'
I was mildly surprised as it has been ages since I heard such classic Hokkien vulgarity been uttered in its full glory... People nowadays usually use CCB instead, maybe becuz they will be quite out of breath if they have to use all 7 syllables each time they swear...
I figured she could been stepped on the toes or pushed by someone from the back. But then she seemed a bit mentally unsound. Cuz she stood still and was mumbling to herself for a while before she walked off. And of cuz, many people stared...
Sigh... no wonder Lao Lee is worried about us not being a gracious lot...

Save the cheerleader, save the world... Sounds very ridiculous aint it? How can a cheerleader has so much an impact on the world's safety. But apparently, the series had millions hooked.
I was thinking, of all the characters in the show with their unique super powers, which of those will be most desirable??? Some cameos only appear for like 10 minutes, so I reckon their powers are no big deal, I'm not gonna consider theirs. So let's see...
Peter Petrelli with his ability to 'learn' the abilities of other people by just being near them. Sounds cool but then, I do not want to be blown up...
His brother, Nathan Petrelli... Why would I want to fly when there is the tusted SMRT and SBS buses leh (hint of sacarsm)
Sylar... similiar to Peter Petrelli but he has to cut open peoples' head to learn their abilities... Nah, I can't even bring myself to kill a cockroach...
Issac Mandez with his ability to paint the future... Unless I can paint the winning combinations of 4D or ToTo, it's pretty useless
Claude Rains, the invisible man... Well being invisible is all cool and good but it's a bit boring rite?
Matt Parkman, not sure if I wanna keep hearing people's thoughts... It could be pretty noisy if everyone starts thinking at the same time... I sure dun wanna hear some ti ko pehs' thoughts when they see chio bus walk past them...
Ah... the lovely cheerleader. Of course it's good to be in the pink of health for eternity but eternity is pretty scary isn't it? I can't die even if I want to, it's like being a vampire without being dependant on blood to survive. Of course it's all cool if you are a good looker like Claire Bennet, what if you have to be a ugly fuck for eternity???!!!???
This is one cool ability to have... If I can time travel like Hiro Nakamura, I can pretty much meet all those cool people who lived in the past, go chase dinosaurs or go back into the past to right a wrong although enough time travel related TV shows suggest that that's not gonna work, some paradox thingy...
And well, it's truly a blessing if super powers run in the family...
The dad who can walk through walls but I think DL Hawkin's ability is a bit boring like being invisible
The mum who has a serious case of split personality... No way I'm gonna deal with a rebellious me! Niki Sanders is in serious need of pyschiatric help!!!
After going through the whole list, I still think the coolest power to have is the ability to 'talk' to machines... I'm not geeky ok but think about this, in this modern technological age, the one who controls the digital world, controls the physical world... And how cool to just walk up to any ATM and withdraw cash when you need money??? Micah Sanders is definitely the most powerful and under rated hero, in my opinion

Went to see the doctor again... He said during the first visit that if haven recover after 3 days then must go for review mah, see if need to refer to specialist or not...
Good news is I'm gonna be Chicken Little no more in a matter of a few more days but I'm gonna take more meds and use one more type of eye drops to claer the infection and swell in the meantime... And I finally managed to get the medical name of my condition, so I quickly googled it and this is what I got:
TMD!!! 吓死我了!!! Tot I'm gonna go blind... Lucky will not affect eye sight as long as I continue to be Chicken Little till I feel better...

Had my first lo hei today and it's not even officially the lunar new year yet. This is got to be my earliest lo hei till date. Well, it's a corporate lunch invite by our corporate bank.
Actually quite stressful to attend such power lunches lei, talking to all the VPs, senior VPs, topics all revolving around boring subjects like property prices, market trends and other serious stuff, although at times, someone will crack some jokes... And of course, there will be some moments of awkward silence after everyone finished laughing at the jokes...
Hmm noticed that recently, my usually bo lang read blog is getting double digit hits... not that I'm complaining that ppl are reading but I'm just curious who's reading and erm... hopefully not the Lee Dynasty cuz you know, sometimes, I do kau bei here n there about the way things are being run, so erm, if Lao Lee or Xiao Lee happens to be reading (not that I think they will but you never know), no hard feelings ya?

Recently, the hot topics seem to be on retirement and giving up when the odds are against you.
We were taught from young not to give up when we are faced with difficulty. My English teacher used to tell me, as the goings get tough, the tough gets going. My Chinese teacher on the other hand preached on 吃得苦中苦,方为人上人... They didn't tell us to opt for the easy way when it seems that we cannot make it.
I remember I used to be really bad at Additional Mathematics during my secondary school days, failing most of my tests or at best, just achieved a moderate pass. Instead of asking me to drop the subject during O Levels, my teacher sacrificed his weekends by giving me and a few others free tution in his home. The result? We got B3s and A2s for the subject that we thought we could never pass.
Well a certain principle in a certain secondary school apparently advised her students to opt for the ITE instead since they will most probably do badly in their O Levels and can't make it into poly. In my opinion, regardless whatever her intention, such words should never come out from the mouth of an educator, much so from a principal. Even if the students tried and failed, what harm could it possible cause? At least they can proudly say they tried and failed so ya, move on the ITE instead. Why 泼冷水 and ask them to give up without giving it their best shot? If they really opted for ITE instead of going for the O Levels, this may come back to haunt them someday. They will forever living in the shadows of 'what ifs'?
Same applies to our Team Singapore mah, we are constantly going into the global arena to compete against the very best in sports. And since we are not well known for our sporting capabilities, why bother right? No point wasting taxpayers' money and sending so many representatives to participate in what SEA Games lah, Commonwealth Games lah and dunno simi 2010 World Cup dream, cuz we will never win mah...Well at least dun bother sending the soccer, table tennis and the badminton squad lah... Most they can do is go into semi finals oni lah, why bother rite?
So I cannot understand why the minister can still defend the principal in question. Simi if our young cannot take such comments, he will worry about how fragile our young can be? Not everyone is made of steel lor, though of course the tough ones will not take what was said to heart but what about those who are made of lesser resolve? A simple remark like that could have scarred their sense of self worth and cost long term damage lor... A classic case of high IQ but low EQ... tsk tsk
On retirement, well think I have blogged on this sometime back from my experience with Burger King... Staying connected and active is different from continue working lor... I can be retired and lead a fruitful and active life by keeping myself occupied doing the things I like but never had the chance to when I'm working. Of course continue to work after retirement doesn't mean you will die later than those not working after retirement lor... Those who are forced to work in order to keep up with the ever increasing prices and fare hikes are not neccessarily better off than those who can afford to retire and dun work lor, for obvious reasons. How hard can it be reading papers to know what's happening in the region and meeting/ talking to people, compared to slogging to make ends meet when you are past your prime and still have to 看老板脸色?
But then, looking at the way things go, the gahmen dun have to worry lah, dun think many of us can afford to retire even if we want to... Most probably we will still be working until the day we kick the bucket...

Blardy gahmen is now building ERP gantries in the heartlands liaoz... I have heard that they are gonna shift the burden from car ownership to car usage but this is a bit too much lor... The new new gantries are now in Upper Boon Keng Road, Kallang Bahru Road, Geylang Bahru Road and Toa Payoh Lor 6. Reason being, I quote from today's My Paper: "This is to form an 'outer cordon' to control traffic into the city.."
So people living in these areas will potentially have to pay get out of the neighbourhood, pay 2nd time to go into the city, pay 3rd time to get out of the city and then pay one more time to go back to their neighbourhood. But is it really gonna curb traffic?
You build gantry here, people take alternate routes, so eventually the alternate routes will be congested too then you go and build gantries there somemore so you can divert traffic somemore and the cycle continues. No wonder they can find enough land to have the eventual 60 over gantries island wide...
Why not like that lah, build one fucking ERP gantry at the entrance of every damn HDB carpark in Singapore??? That will help to form more outer and inner 'cordons' to control traffic going anywhere... Of course the side effect will be there will be lack of parking lots cuz then no one will drive unneccessarily mah... No problem, just raise carpark charges lah... That will instantly make carpark lots more available, if it works for cabs, sure work for carpark oso mah...
CCB... They even have plans to extend these ERPs into the evening, then wat's the fucking point of having off peak cars you tell me??? Oh or maybe there aint gonna be no off peak cars no more, since eventually there aint gonna be no COEs no more so well maybe, we will be given a deadline to top up the difference of whatever remaining balance of our 17k rebate so that we can join the regular plates in the pay-as-you-use scheme???

Been hearing about the Ah Chew Deserts (阿秋甜品) opp Bugis Junction for quite some time oredi but that place is always crowded. Well finally had the chance to try out the deserts on Thursday. I dun really have a sweet tooth so I just find this so-so but Ah nia loves the 杨枝甘露 to bits... She even bought 打包 for her mum and bro...
杨枝甘露, nice name for erm 芒果, 柚子 in some milky syrup
The aloe vera with honey and lime doesn't have much 卖相 but they are generous with the aloe vera bits though
And oh, there's a queue for this too, but we din manage to sample the flavoured chewy cream puffs though. Could this be the next big thing after Donut Factory? They already have 2 outlets so maybe this can create a stir in the near future.
Oh there's another stall doing the same with 油条, but nah, I dun think that's gonna work, the whole thing just look weird. Din take a photo cuz scared the auntie will stuff the unsold 油条 up my nostrils. She aint look too happy that no one was buying her 油条...
By the way, both the chewy puffs and doughsticks stalls can be found near the foodcourt, if you are interested...

Once upon a time, 海鸟 and 鱼 fell in love, despite their obvious difference.
The other creatures in 珊瑚海 got worried and warned them of the difficulties that they are gonna face. Being deeply madly in love, they decided to go ahead without heeding their advice. They couldn't understand why the others cannot accept the fact that they are happy together.
Although they have to bear with the pain, for example 鱼 cannot breathe out of water and 海鸟 cannot swim in water. But they are happy, or so they thought. And they cannot understand why people dun understand that. Maybe they are resentful that the other creatures in 珊瑚海 dun approve of their being together. They made a vow not to turn to the other creatures even if they face future difficulties but the irony is they will hold them responsible if things do not work out.
Why, you may ask, should they hold the other creatures responsible when they have told them so in the first place??? Well, love is blind and deaf and most often than not irrational as well... When the heart rules over the head, it often defies logic...
But seriously, the other creatures are not in the least interested anymore after they have said their piece, especially after well meant advice fell on deaf ears and they got treated like evil creatures. So the 海鸟 and 鱼, please do yourselves a favour, do not bother yourselves with what the other creatures are thinking. Why should you care if they understand you or not since you have already stated that it was none of their business? Afterall, love is only between those involved isn't it?
p.s. The story above is purely fictional. Any resemblance to any characters or fish or bird, whether dead or alive, is purely coincidental. Of course if really coincidentally, you resemble the fish or bird depicted in the story, the author deeply regrets any emotional trauma that you may be suffering but please, do not bother yourselves with the story since well, love is between 2 people or in this case 1 bird and 1 fish and happiness is all that matters =)

It's been almost 3 mths since I left Ah Geok, and if you guys have noticed, I seldom kao beiz about work nowadays, so that should tell you how life is after Ah Geok. I'm sure all the ex-Ah-Geokers will agree with me. So present current Ah-Geokers please do something to save your mind and soul from further damage... heheh
Well speaking of which, just had a talk with the bosses and it seemed that I have passed my probation (I quote) 'with flying colors' and that I'll get the written confirmation as soon as the HR gets it ready. Hor say liaoz...I thought... now it's a good time to try and negotiate for a possible pay raise, the words 'flying colors' resounding loudly in my ears...
They must have seen that coming cuz the big boss simply said we'll talk about bonuses and pay increases and of course work targets for '08 in Feb, which is the time for work reviews and appraisal...
Damn... So better pray hard that there's no screw ups before then...

A random thought after tonight's dinner with a group of frens.
Let's say there are more than 10 people at the dinner, each ordering something different. Of course there were finger foods as well that everyone ate. Also, there was jugs of beer which only some drank. When it's time to foot the bill, how would you have paid your share?
Group1: For the sake of simplicity, just divide the total?
Group 2: Take out a calculator or your handphone and calculate right down the last cent for the share that you ate?
Well, I happen to belong to the first group, I mean not that I super rich or what but really I will not lose sleep over that few more dollars.
Of course not that the second group of people are in the wrong of course, but then I just find that it is not socially gracious to be so calculative, especially since it is really difficult to split the bill right down to the last cent, with all the GST and service charge, and when there are so many diners...
Of course some of you may argue that there could be people with special food preference such as non drinkers or vegans. Well then, fair enough, just take out the booze and the vegetarian item and the rest can still be split among the rest right?
Otherwise, who would dare to settle the bill first with their credit cards? Everybody else will be busy calculating how much they should be paying and I tell you most often than not, people will 'conveniently' overlook the taxes. Imagine a dinner bill for 15 pax amounting to $500 over, the tax alone will have made up 17% of the bill total. The poor soul who swiped his card would have been $40 plus poorer, for helping to settle the bill? How's that for being gracious?
Yeah, we can always ask the waiter to come back later, after we work out how much to pay mah. Sure, then everyone start digging into their wallets for notes and coins and fussing over change and how much each should pay... Thank you very much, but I find that quite embarrassing...
Well, I suppose there's no ideal solution to this problem as there'll always be people from both sides of the camp but one thing is for certain, I'll not organise dinner for this group again, at least not the whole group lah, only those who are belongs to group 1, like me...

Sometimes, not that we Singaporeans like to complain but really hor, complain letters work better and faster than calling up the so called customer service officers...
Take for example, I misplaced my DBS debit card on 14 Dec. I called in to report loss and it took them like 3-5 working days to send me a replacement card. Ok, fair enough since it's the Xmas season and all and they did inform me of the delay.
I tried to activate the debit card according to the instructions on the mail and found that I could not activate the card. Of course I called the customer service dept. The answer given was I needed my ATM card to activate the debit card. Duh?!?! Will anyone still use their ATM card when their debit card has the same function and more??? That is dumb lor. So the alternative was to sign the acknowledgement slip and then mail it back to DBS for them to activate. So being the Mr Nice Guy that I am, thought maybe I forgot to read the fineprints and therefore faithfully did as told.
2 weeks passed and my card was still not activated. I'm losing patience and tried to call the customer service dept again, which by the way always seem to be engaged. Another customer service officer said she would have to check what's wrong as 2 weeks is too long for activation of cards (like I did not know that already). I asked if I could activate the card at any POSB/ DBS branches but she said cannot, die die must be activated by the main branch or something. She promised to call me back which of course she never did.
So by now I sibei tulan liaoz cuz I need to do internet transfer to my other bank account and wait for 2 days before I can access my funds. Tulan people of course write complain letters:
I have reported loss of debit card about 2 weeks ago and got my replacement card last week. However, I could not activate the card at the ATM without my! ATM card or mailing back the acknowledgement slip. First of all, this is ridiculous as no one will continue to use their ATM card since the debit card can be used to withdraw cash as well. Nevertheless, I mailed back the acknowledgement slip last Friday and it has since been a week and my card is still not activated. I have called the customer service a few times but they cannot confirm if they have received my acknowledgement slip. Can DBS do something about this asap? It's the festive season and it is very inconvenient for me not able to use my card. I have to resort to doing interbank fund transfers and it takes a further 2 days before I have access to my funds.
See how I can't be bothered to even say 'Hi' or 'Dear...'? This was the reply I got over the weekend:
Dear Mr Dennis We refer to your email below. We have received your acknowledgement slip on 31 Dec 07. However, we are unable to activate your card as your signature on the slip is different from our records. Hence, please visit any of our branches to update your signature and do a urgent activation of your debit card. Thank you for the opportunity to address your concern.
I mailed the letter out the week before Xmas and they received it only on New Year's Eve? But that's not the point. After receiving the reply, I called the customer service people again and they have the cheek to tell me they are still investigating lor!
So being still tulan, I replied:
Hi, Thank you for your reply. It seems to be faster than your customer service officers. The last I heard, they are still investigating. I did check with them on the possibility of activating the card at the branches since I can verify that the card belongs to me but the customer service officers told me I can only activate the card via ATM card or acknowledgement slips. Why is there a difference in the answers? They should have told me I can do an urgent activation the first time I called so that I do not have to waste 2 weeks waiting. I’m not sure if this is a training issue that customer service officers are not fully aware of the policies and procedures but I do urge DBS to look into this so that other consumers are not inconvenienced.
I'll be interested to know what their reply will be...
And as for Cycle and Carriage, finally they managed to replace the exhaust pipe for 小疆尸. But the paintwork gotta wait. The guys are gonna check thoroughly for any chips and respray everything if neccessary, so they will ask me to bring 小疆尸 down one more time when they have a loan vehicle ready... Gonna waste another trip but at last everything can be fixed once and all and FOC... And should rightfully so...
Ah... The wonders complaint letters can do...

Love not only makes one blind, in my opinion it makes one deaf and stupid too. Many a times, when one is head over heals in a relationship, emotions run wild and it often takes control over logic. One will often think that love conquers all and nothing can stand in one's way, not even when the whole world is against you. Reality check: Why would the world be against you in the first place? Ever tot of that?
One will usually scoff at those who advise him/ her to think before they plunge into the relationship. Afterall, why worry about things that have not even happened yet? Who can predict the future? Who can guarantee that no hiccups will ever happen in a relationship? Afterall, one has one's partner and that is all that matters. Love is about 2 people and 2 people only right?
You know what? Wrong! Unless you live in a fairy tale and even then, you will more often than not, need help from your fairy godmother, or dwarves. So what happens if you do not live in a fairy tale? Your friends take the role of the fairy godmother or maybe if you are fortunate enough to have many friends, then perhaps dwarves as well...
But alas, the words of all the fairy godmothers and all the dwarves will eventually fall on deaf ears when one is already blinded by love and unless you say what one wants to hear, one will not hear what you want to say at all, until tragedies happen... Well that happens all the time in TV shows too, don't they?
Well anyway, my advise to all those who are madly in love, try to be objective and listen to what the dwarves and the fairy godmothers are saying or have to say. Afterall, if everyone is saying the same thing, there must be some truth in it right?
Should you still persist, at least do not shoo them away or hurt them in the process, cuz well, should your Princess or Price Charming turn out not to the person that you think she/ he to be, your fairy godmothers and your dwarves will be the ones that you are most likely gonna turn to in the end...

Last day of 2007 was spent having dinner with a bunch of great friends followed by late night mahjong. The set of pix is the same as the one in my bro's love blog. Bo bian, the photographer haven send me the full set of pix so I have to make do for now. Realised Aili and Val were not in this set, sorry gals ;p
Anyway back to the blog proper. Actually we wanna have a BBQ session at Punggol Park but we were a tad too late in the booking and all the pits in the park were fully booked. So we decided to have dinner at the park's restaurant instead. It's called Bliss and the ambience is really nice, being next to a big pond, with lights and candles and wine and all, an ideal pak tor place for dating couples. Can go have dinner then stroll in the park... Romantico rite?
Making our way to Bliss
While waiting for our food to be served, we decided to cam-whore. Bro and galfren, as usual, began the cam-whoring session with tons of 自恋照
The Lim brothers, Ah nia and Rainbow
The other Brother Lim and his dear
Since most of us drove, we decided to try their non alcoholic concoctions. Alas, the downside of driving but then it's really important not to drink if you drive, not that I pro gahmen, but really not worth it if you suay suay kanna caught. Even if you dun get caught, kanna accident oso not fun mah, regardless whether you bump people or people bump you...
Our drinks. The milky stuff is oreo milk shake, I think.
We ordered Lemon Fizz, Tutti Fruitti and Shirley Temple but they all look the same to me. Even the garnish seemed identical. The worst part, they taste almost the same too!!!Disappointing -_-
The food was better. We decided not to go for the 5-course NYE special set (which cost $39.90) and ordered random appetiser and finger food instead. Of course, since there's the NYE special, we ordered 2 main course from the menu as well.
First order, sausage and mashed potato. I tot the way they present the dishes was pretty good, considering the fact that this is not a really classy and expensive restaurant. As usual, me ended up being the waiter again...
Actually hor, my serving also look very nice one but Rainbow decided to post a pix of her plate only -_- She dun eat mashed potato mah, how to do a good job with only 2 small piece of sausage, you tell me...
The rest of our order, Top Shell, Fried White Bait Fish, Spicy Chicken Wings and Skinful Chicken We ordered the skinful chicken cuz the name was quite cute but kns, it's just deep fried chicken skin lor and tasted like 猪油
The main course: Foie Gras Beef Medallion and Norweigan Salmon with Crayfish
The guys were not really full at this point so Keith decided to order Luncheon Fries. He's been harping on this ever since we sat down so we decided to grant him his wish. Of course we were really skeptical if the restaurant is still using the China brand MaLing luncheon meat but then we decided that Singaporeans are not so evil so we went ahead and ordered.
And there it was, Luncheon Fries
As the name implied, it's just fried luncheon meat that looked like fries... Stupid Keith, with $6.90, I could have easily bought 2 cans of MaLing and give him all the luncheon fries he wants...Hahaha
After dinner, we proceeded to my place for mahjong while Val went to join her hubby for fireworks at Marina Bay. It was not my night for MJ cuz hor for the whole of the 1st game and the 1st half of the 2nd game, I did not even win a single round lor... So you see, even if no one 连庄 or diao chng, that's a straight 24 rounds without a single win...
My break came only when I won a 臭平胡 of 1 tai, during the 西风 of the 2nd game. But even the games that I won after that were all 1 or 2 tais but people win 3 or 4 tais one lor. Sigh... and got people win a few5 tai oso but 不幸中的大幸 is I didn't 放炮 let people win, else sure lose till tng kor...
When we reached 北风北位 of the 2nd game, the only way for me to recoup loss was to win a 自摸 5 tai. And 5 tai I did, though not 自摸 but it's enough to cut my loss to a mere $0.40... Not bad eh??? Muuuuahahahahahha....
Dun play play lor, I even 杠 and 暗杠 before I won the 碰碰半色 ok? Below is my winning combination =)
Ok, that's it folks... Have a Happy 2008!!!
