After another 2D1N in camp training (this has been the nth time I'm been called back to camp this year, super sianzzzz), wanted to have a nice dinner with TSO so after booking out, went home to unpack my stuff, had a quick shower and went to pick her up from work.
Actually wanted to bring for dinner at Marche cuz she has been craving for it for some time already but alas, eben the Suntec branch had closed down and since we were already starving, we din want to drive all the way to HMV for Village.
So anyways, while walking around B1, looking for some interesting ideas for dinner, we chance upon this not too looking teppanyaki restaurant (forgot the name but it's near Muthu's Curry) and decided to give it a try since the price seemed quite ok.
And mayb it's still early, the restaurant was kinda empty and the waiter by the door was dozing off while putting his arms on the those-thing-you-put-the-menu-on. Anyone knows what is it called??? (hahah menu stand sounds weird and rostum doesn't seem quite right)
Anyway, I din realised he was dozing and he din realise we were there until I tried to turn a page on the menu. He was visibly paisei but quickly recovered and promptly showed us to our seats. Heheh, that's service recovery for you =p
We ordered 2 set dinners and then sat back and relaxed while the chef prepared our dinner for us. For those of you who had tried the Sakae Sushi version, this is definitely better.
As you can see, there are other diners so we were a bit paisei while taking food pix so we did not take any pix of ourselves =(
The entree, asparagus, mushrooms, lady's finger, scallop and prawn. This is in our opinion, the nicest dish, but the others were good too. The Sakae version will never have this kinda presentaion.
Hey, you may say you dun care since food's meant to be eaten anyway but then, we paid GST and service charge at the end of day so I'd appreciate a little more effort lor, rather than cook and dump everything on a plate. I might as well go eat Zi Char then.
For soup, I had the corn soup (I prefer the creamy version from MOS Burger though) while TSO had
Scallop with spinach. Other restaurants would have served these 2 soup creamy but maybe cuz it's a Japanese restaurant, that's why that they dun make it creamy so as to retain the Asian-ness.
And their salad dressing is different from the usual dressings that we are used to as well.
For my potato salad, they used teriyaki sauce and seaweed instead of the usual egg mayo.
TSO's garden salad was dressed in a sweet purplish dressing instead of the usual thousand island. Taste good and a refreshing change from the norm.
The main course: ribeye steak for TSO
And cod fish for me. The ribeye was so so but I thought the cod fish was yummilicious
In case you are wondering how come there's 2 servings of fish, this is actually honey banana. It's a warm dessert cuz it's teppanyaki-ed. Apparently, the fruit garnishes are cut nia. This is another not-so-common-but-taste-good dish.
The caramel pudding is very de so-so only though. Should have tried the teppanyaki-ed pancake instead.
All in all, it was a very nice dinner and the bill, inclusive of taxes came up to about $89.
The ribeye set cost about $40 and the cod fish was $35. If you are game for the lobster set, it's between $55 and $65 depending whether you want Boston lobster or I-forgot-what's-the-other-lobster.

This may seem like random rumblings but I'm sure the person(s) concerned will understand:
1. You may think that you are doing everyone a service by keeping quiet as promised but guess what? That's not always the case, knowing and keeping quiet when by not keeping quiet may have helped resolve a crisis makes you equally guilty.
2. Do not be so quick to judge if you are not in the situation or experienced similiar situations. It's easy to assume and pass judgements based on your so called moral values. I'll like to see you handle it should you one day be dealt with similiar situations.
3. Let go of your pride and try to salvage if it really means so much to you. Keeping things to yourself is not always the wisest thing to do. There are people who will be able to advise you and make you see things from another perspective. Or maybe all you need is to talk it out and for someone else to listen and not to give advise. Who knows, in the process of listening to yourself, you may get the answers that you are seeking.
4. Lastly if the person I'm intending this for is reading, do consider seriously if you are really willing to give up something that you have nurtured and shared. Maybe something really drastic has happened that made you decide what you have decided. But is it really the end?

MDIS is enforcing its stand on no shorts, mini skirts, slippers, visible tattoos, colored hair as these are deemed as indecent and puts off other students 'who genuinely want to study'.
And even went as far as having staff turn students off if they are found to be 'indecent'.
Ask students wear uniforms lor, in that case.

Not a very long time ago, Singaporeans complained abt too many ang mohs in Singapore when Singaporeans already do not have enuf jobs. Of cuz the reason the gahmen gave then was Singapore being a small country, we have to rely on foreign talent and foreign investments in order for us to progress.
Ok ok, given the fact that MNCs (except maybe the Japanese ones) pay better and have better staff benefits than those freaking local SMEs, maybe that made sense.
And then when the NEL is up and running, Singaporeans noticed that there seems to be a sudden large influx of ah neks into our country, cuz now ah neks take the NEL to travel to Little India and Serangoon when before the NEL, they can take whatever bus services that passed by these areas. And of cuz this became a hot topic when someone suggested building a ah nek dorm near Serangoon, for fear of the safety of the residents in the surrounding neighbourhood. Cuz you know lah, ah neks like to loiter near void decks in groups getting themselves pissed drunk on cheap beer or chinese hua diao jiu.
Again, the explaination given was these foreign workers are needed to work mundane jobs cuz Singaporeans are unable and unwilling to build roads, buildings, clean roads. Ok ok, make sense oso rite, and then I suppose that probably explains why there are so many china man here as well, cuz well, we can't possibly employ the whole freaking India rite?
But why the fuck are china women infesting all our major foodcourts, hawker centres, coffeeshops and restaurants at the same time??? Dun tell me Singaporeans are unable and unwilling to be stall helpers/ waiters?
I simply cannot tahan going into a bubble tea shop and ordering jasmine green tea in English and all I get is a blank stare from all 3 china women lor. Like I need to place my order in fucking perfect mandarin.
And when I attend classes, I swear almost 50% of the class are from China. It's like they are in every crook and cranny!
Geez, is it only me or are we slowly being 'invaded' by India and China?
p.s. I'm not saying that they are all bad people but I'm just not very thrilled at the rate that they are infesting our little island

Someone told me that she thinks I'm still new, but not in the stranger kinda new.
The analogy given to me was:
"You are like a new model of handphone, you know? I oredi know all the features but the handphone is still, you know, new? Know what I mean?"
Hmm

TSO decided to cook spaghetti for lunch today so after breakfast, we went marketing and this is what we got: spaghetti, olive oil, black pepper, shitake mushrooms, squid and prawns
And here's the end product, our first attempt at black pepper seafood spaghetti and it's a success.
Mama passed TSO with what I figured to be a 'distinction' kinda comment.
Bliss is doing such simple things together and having fun at the same time =)
