Was chatting with a friend the other day and he was telling me how depressed he was over how he finds himself a failure in life and how things seem to be out of his control. Why he couldn't match up with his other friends who are more successful in terms of jobs and relationships.
*Sigh* Lemme ask whoever is reading this somethin. Why do we always have to measure up? Sure, it can be a form of motivation for us to improve and to climb higher, but when is it gonna stop? There will always be that someone who earns a higher pay, drives a bigger car, has a better looking boyfriend/ girlfriend who treats her/him like no other. And then wat? Is it all that important to be on top of the mountain? How many of us can actually reach the summit? And is there space for us all? There is a reason why the summit is always narrower than the base, its ok to aim for the highest but then one must realise that not everyone is destined to be at the very top, so why not live life as it is, and enjoy what we have, instead of lamenting on what we dun have?
Sure, being able to zip around town in a car feels good, but there can be joy in just takin public transport. At least you dun have to get high blood pressure cuz some goons happen to cut into your lane without warning, or worry about not being able to get a parking lot during weekends, or that the price of petrol is increasing (ok, we are gonna wory abt that even if we dun drive cuz its gonna result in fare hikes)
And who's gonna judge us as a failure in life? Most of us have a decent job with a decent pay, it may not pay alot but at least it allows us to have simple pleasures after the bills. I'll take that as being rather successful cuz we dun have to rely on handouts like many of those poor people out there who can't even feed themselves.
I say, be happy with wat we have now and enjoy life while we can =)
