Its the annual event that all guys hate... well maybe not all but most will definitely find it a nightmare... Inhumanely Perverted Punishing Treatment aka IPPT for short. Well I remembered failing my 2.4km the last time I took my test during in-camp in March and since then, I have completely forgotten about it... until the guys were talking abt RT during dinner after one of the RO sessions... For those of you who dun already know, its the volunteer group that I belong too... yeah yeah... ah beng doing volunteer service, but hey I'm not your regular low class beng okae? I jus happen to look at one, when my hair color is not in its natural color... but anyways...
And so it suddenly occurs to me that I have to clear the blardy IPPT before I joined Peter and Marcus in their priviledged and exclusive RT club... so there I was, going back to my beloved Bedok Camp (my camp during my activbe days) for the test... Its the last shot I have before my window closes, for the benefit of the gals, dat means the day before my bdae... which is 18th Sept... *hint hint*
First time I'm taking IPPT in the designated IPPT centres wor... got a shock when I found out that all the test stations are computerised... They have blardy machines taking your score from situps to shuttle run to pull ups to standing board jump and of course the dreaded 2.4km run!!! I wish I could have taken pix of those werid contraptions but you know lah, national security, so I can't show my female readers how advanced our army had become...
Going through the static stations was a breeze to me lah... dun mean to sound hao lian but I think my regular trips to the gym do help to a great extent, so I'm not really concerned abt the static stations... but I do admit I was kinda shagged out after I went thru them all...
The worse is 2.4km run cuz I simply hate jogging and seriously, I'm not even confident of meeting the minimum passing mark of 12:40 (loosely translated as 12 min 40 sec)... Wats worse is that I have to run around the stadium which means I have to go thru 6 rounds, whereas in other camps, we usually have to run round the camp like 3 or 3 rounds, so pyschologically, the stadium sux...
I was kinda breezing through the 1st round, and started to pant during the 2nd round... from the 3rd onwards, my lungs are basically collapsing... 4th round, legs are threatening to give way and by the 5th round, my alter ego was telling me to give up cuz I'm never ever gonna make it... 6th round... timing on the clock read 9:57 and I felt like I'm gonna die... 2 and a half more minutes, 400 metres to go with my lungs burning with lack of oxygen and my legs promising to give way any second...
